Jenny Lane heeft de gave om met haar prachtige stem en performance niemand ongeroerd naar huis te laten gaan. Ze zingt recht vanuit haar diepste binnen, natuurlijk, authentiek en met een stem die je kippenvel bezorgt. De eigenzinnige zangeres zorgt met haar natuurlijke charmes voor een avond vol humor en fantasie. “Jenny Lane betovert je met haar stem en performance”, aldus 3voor12.
Het werd al vroeg duidelijk dat Jenny op het podium terecht zou komen. Als klein meisje trad Jenny thuis in de woonkamer op voor haar poppen en knuffels, die als trouw publiek dienden terwijl ze toneelspeelde, danste en zong. Op haar 5e jaar trad Jenny voor het eerst voor echt publiek op toen zij deel uitmaakte van het Nederlands Kindertheater. Vele bands en projecten volgde en later deed ze de theateropleiding T.H.O.P.S.S, waar zij zich verder ontwikkelde en zich ontplooide tot wat ze nu is: een podiumbeest in hart en nieren.
4 jaar geleden won ze de Talent Night Rotterdam, waarna ze afreisde naar New York om op te treden in het Apollo Theater in Harlem. In die legendarische zaal vol muziekhistorie kreeg ze het publiek aan haar voeten. Dit betekende een start van een carrière in de muziek, ze begon met optredens en het schrijven van eigen nummers. Als begenadigd songwriter schreef Jenny al veel nummers voor andere artiesten.
In 2009, een bewogen jaar met vele hoogtepunten, besloot ze haar eigen pad uit te stippelen als solo artiest. De release van haar debuutalbum “Monsters” werd met groot enthousiasme ontvangen. Het album kwam direct op nummer 2 binnen in de iTunes charts en was het hele jaar niet meer uit de pers weg te denken. Zo stond ze bijvoorbeeld op de cover van het magazines zoals de NL 20/30/40 en Musicmaker. Ook zangeres Joss Stone zag Jenny op Youtube en nodigde haar direct uit als voorprogramma op haar Europese tournee.
Terug in Nederland speelde ze op diverse festivals, waaronder Eurosonic, de Uitmarkt en stond ze in het voorprogramma van Boris & Wicked Jazz Sounds. Haar eerste eigen clubtour ‘Monsters On Tour’, werd door website Nu.nl omschreven als “een verbluffende liveshow”. Er volgde een wervelwind van optredens die haar terugbracht naar het Apollo Theater in New York en zelfs deed belanden op JakJazz-Festival in Jakarta, Indonesië.
Jenny deed een feature op het solo-album van Perquisite en is nu 2 keer achter elkaar door het vrouwenblad Viva genoemd als een van de “400 Jonge Succesvolle Vrouwen van 2010 & 2011”.
Toen ze begin 2011 nummers voor haar nieuwe album begon te schrijven besloot Jenny al haar ervaringen van de afgelopen jaren in haar nieuwe Album “Life’s Like a Chox of Bogglets” te verwerken, welke op 30 september 2011 uit is gekomen. Op dit door Jenny zelf geschreven album is ze een nieuw muzikaal pad op gegaan. Een gewaagd en persoonlijk album dat opvalt door een grote eigenheid. “Ik wilde bij dit nieuwe album dat elk nummer de dynamiek en het vuur bezit, dat ik ook van binnen voel wanneer ik optreed ” Aldus Jenny Lane.
Het album is als een avontuurlijke reis vol details waarbij je elke keer dat je het luistert, meer kleine pareltjes blijft ontdekken. Nu.nl noemt het “Een kwalitatief hoogstand en internationaal klinkend album” en MusicFromNL schreef: “De lyrics die ze schrijft zijn eerlijk en vaak grappig. Haar bereik is enorm en prachtige backing vocals zijn allemaal ingezongen door Jenny zelf en zijn onmisbaar en zeer waardevol op de tracks.”
Op “Life’s Like a Chox of Bogglets” heeft Jenny Lane haar eigen interpretatie gegeven aan Pop, gecombineerd met Hiphopbeats, Soul en Electro invloeden. Jenny hierover: ‘mijn muzikale helden zijn o.a. Andre 3000, Sia, Michael Jackson en Janelle Monae. Zij inspireerden mij om contrasterende gelaagdheid in nummers aan te brengen’
Het album bestaat uit upliftende en tegelijkertijd melancholische songs, waarbinnen Jenny zingt, vertelt, rapt en continu de grenzen tussen het licht en het donker opzoekt. ‘Life’s Like a Chox of Bogglets’ is doordrenkt met aanstekende rauwe beats, intense melodieën, persoonlijke teksten, speelse en intense sounds en Jenny’s soulvolle en unieke stem.
Haar eerste live shows van het nieuwe album zijn ook erg goed ontvangen. 3voor12 hierover: “Het is moeilijk voor te stellen dat iemand deze avond niet met een voldaan gevoel naar huis gaat.”

Jenny has a special gift, this gift is her amazing voice that touches all your senses. Jenny sings with a natural ease, it is authentic and gives you goose bumps. It soon became clear that Jenny would end up on stage. As a little girl, Jenny’s living room was filled with her dolls and stuffed animals who were her loyal audience while she acted, danced and sang. Her talent was obvious and her mother signed her up for the “Nederlands Kindertheater” (Dutch Children’s Theatre). Later Jenny attended the school of performing arts at T.H.O.P.S.S in Amsterdam, where she developed herself more, and unfolded into what she is today: a true stage performer.
In 2007 after winning the Talent Night Rotterdam, after which she travelled to New York to perform at the famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem. In this music hall with its legendary history, she blew the audience away and was announced winner of the evening. Meanwhile here in the Netherlands she was also building a career, Jenny wrote many songs for other artists.
In 2009 she decided to set her own path as a solo artist performer. Her colourful debut album “Monsters” entered at #2 in the Dutch iTunes charts and prominently she was all over in the press. For example, she made the cover of Dutch version of Time Out magazine NL20/30/40 and Musicmaker magazine. Also, singer Joss Stone saw Jenny on YouTube and was so impressed by her voice that she invited her as a support act on her European tour.
Back in the Netherlands, she played at festivals such as Eurosonic, the Uitmarkt, and was support act for Boris & Wicked Jazz Sounds. Her own successful Club Tour called “Monsters On Tour”, was described by news what the website nu.nl as “a stunning live show”.
A whirlwind of performances followed from the Apollo Theatre in New York and even to the JakJazz Festival, one of the greatest festivals in Jakarta, Indonesia. Jenny featured on the solo album of Perquisite and has been awarded twice as on of the “400 Young Successful Women 2010 and 2011” by women magazine Viva.
When starting work on her new album, in early 2011, Jenny decided to put all her new life experiences in her creatively titled “Life’s Like a Chox of Bogglets” album,
which was released on September 30th . Jenny has chosen a new music direction with this self written album. Jenny: “I wanted this album to have the same dynamic and passion and fire that I feel when I perform.”
The album is like an adventurous journey full of details in which, everytime you listen to it, you discover more gems. Dutch news site Nu.nl called it “a high-quality and international sounding album” and MusicFromNL wrote: “the lyrics Jenny writes are honest and often funny. Here vocal reach is enormous and the beautiful backing vocals, which you can’t miss, are all sung by Jenny herself and really valuable to the tracks.”
Jenny gave her own interpretation to Pop, combined with Hiphop beats, Soul and Electro influences on “Life’s Like a Chox of Bogglets”. Jenny: “My musical heroes include Andre 3000, Sia, Michael Jackson and Janelle Monae. They inspired me to give contrasting layers to the songs I wrote.
“Life’s Like a Chox of Bogglets” is full of uplifting yet melancholic songs, in which Jenny sings, tells, raps and is constantly balancing between the dark and the light, an album that dares to take risks. The album is saturated with contagious raw beats, intense melodies, personal lyrics, playful sounds and Jenny’s amazing soulful voice.
The press was really enthusiastic about the first live shows of the new album. Dutch music website 3voor12: “It’s hard to imagine anyone not to leave this night going home feeling satisfied.”
Nu.nl wrote: “From beginning till end Jenny knows how to fascinate the audience with her indispensable presence, dry humour and enthusiasm.”
